Student Life & Community

  • At DCC we believe that co‐curricular involvement is an important aspect of the total development of a student, which is why we offer dozens of clubs including Collegiate FFA, eSports, Cheerleading, Associated Student Body, and so much more.
  • Student residence halls offer apartment-style living, and each partially-furnished apartment includes two bedrooms, a private bathroom, a vanity area, a walk‐in closet, a living room, a full kitchen, and an entryway with ample storage.
  • The Dawson Promise program is aimed at helping unaccompanied youth who are homeless or aging out of foster care obtain a two-year education without debt. Our comprehensive support system provides a pathway to opportunities for students that may have previously seemed out of reach.
  • Theater, music, and art extracurricular opportunities provide our students with the freedom to cultivate their creativity. With two recording studios, an auditorium, and an art gallery on campus, we hold regular concerts, plays, and exhibitions to showcase students’ talents.
  • With Makoshika State Park, the largest state park in Montana, and the Yellowstone River in our backyard, those who enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting, kayaking, disc golfing, or paleontology have access to plenty of outdoor recreational opportunities.

Highlights

  • Buccaneer athletics has had another successful year! There were two teams that made national appearances: esports and cross country. The women's cross country team had an individual place 3rd in the nation as well as made Buccaneer history by placing 13th overall in the Steeplechase. Softball won the Mon-Dak conference title for the 10th time in the last 12 years. Our athletic programs served over 5,300 hours of community service from our student athletes this last year and our programs continue to grow and see continued success each year.
  • Students who enter our welding program log more than 2,000 hours of hands-on experience through our block schedule, setting them up to transition into the workforce as an entry-level, credentialed, and skilled welder/fabricator. We are the first school in Montana with an aluminum-only class that aligns with Spika Welding’s preferred curriculum goals. We have a notable Agriculture Program with plans of study for many sectors of the industry. Our instructors bring real world experiences to the table that can help you choose a career path in Agriculture.
  • We are proud to announce our Adopt-A-Buc program. Adopt-a-Buc is a student-host family program at Dawson Community College. Community members who apply will be matched with a DCC student. Your role as a host family is to help the student find a home away from home. This is for the student to visit a family and have a local support system, not a live-in program.

Important Things To Know
